Anne and Kate Know the Power of a Blazer
Last night Kate Moss was photographed out and about with the lovely Mario Testino. She was, of course, in the Kate Moss uniform of ballet pumps and a blazer. And, as always, she looked effortlessly stylish.
Then this morning Anne Hathaway announced the Oscar nominations. She wore a white blazer, and she looked effortlessly stylish. Notice a pattern?
The blazer is one of those hero pieces, always there in the back of your wardrobe (or in the back of Rachel Zoe's closet, if you're Anne Hathway) ready for a fashion emergency. You can never go wrong with a trusty blazer, wear them with jeans or over a little dress like Kate Moss, or use one to look formal and fashionable like Anne.
And the new way to wear a blazer this season? With the sleeves rolled up and a saucy bra-top or corset underneath, Antonio Berardi style.
The underwear as outwear trend isn't the most welcoming of fashion statements (or the most forgiving) but paired with the humble blazer it seems much more do-able, no?
And the great thing is you're likely to already have a blazer ready, all you need is a stylish bra-top. I'd go for this floral Topshop number below, so very Dolce & Gabbana.
Is this a look you will be trying? And do you have a perfect blazer that always saves the day?
