Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen attend the Opening Ceremony party in Tokyo

I wanted to see if I could have an internet/blogging free day seeing as it was a bank holiday. I'm not very good at relaxing though, and these Olsen pictures had to be posted.
I love the Olsens. I love bunny ears. These pictures are the best.

The ears are by Maison Michel, they cost € 295 at Colette. I want them bad.

Hit and Miss of the Week: The Printed Mini

For A/W this year I know printed mini dresses with sleeves are going to be one of my favourite things to wear, so easy and they look fabulous. Fearne Cotton and Leslie Mann are already wearing the shape. Also this week there is not a single Gossip Girl in the hit and miss, so I took a look at what the ladies over at 90210 are wearing instead. They don't really compare, do they?

Olivia's Look

Who doesn't love Olivia Palermo's style? This week she looked amazing in a gorgeous oversized necklace, white shirt, shorts and silver pumps. It's such a simple look and done properly (like Olivia) can look so impressive.

I'm sure most of the ingredients to this look are already in your wardrobes. And if not they're easy to get.

I Never Knew Lanvin Could Look Bad

Sandra Bullock in Lanvin

God it's bad! I love Lanvin. I thought it would make everyone look amazing, that its beauty could never be messed up. I was wrong.

At school I had a teacher who always used to say Sandra Bullock had 'an ugly vibe'. I disagreed, I actually like Sandra a lot. But why did she have to ruin this dress? Why did she have to pass on the 'ugly vibe'?

Without the boots it would look better, but it would still be wrong. The only thing that will make this OK is if Ashley Olsen, Diane Kruger and Lake Bell all wear Lanvin tomorrow.

Moss is Almost Famous

The A/W 09 Kate Moss for Topshop collection launched this morning (I'm sure you knew that anyway). The collection has been described by Kate as 'grunge', she says: "This season’s grunge is all about being creative about how you put your look together, and not necessarily spending a fortune."

katefortopshop

It also looks like her version of grunge is inspired by the costumes from Almost Famous. I can imagine Kate Hudson, as Penny Lane, wearing practically every piece in the collection. Those of you who love the movie as much as me will know what I mean when you look through the collection. One of my favourite pieces, the faux fur coat, is even titled 'Groupie'. Every time I watch Almost Famous I want to dress like a groupie from the 70's. Now I can.

If you haven't seen Almost Famous (I'm sure most of you have seeing as the fashion is amazing) you should rent it today. I adore Kate Hudson, but never really take her that seriously as an actress, yet she was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for Almost Famous. I wish she'd go back to real films and stop with the You, Me and Dupree types.

What are your thoughts on the new Kate collection? Do you dream of dressing like Penny Lane too?

Lily Allen Covers ELLE UK's London Issue

The September issues are all out now so it's time to get excited about October. There are already the rumours suggesting Victoria Beckham will get her first US Vogue cover, but I'm not holding my breath for that one.
What can be confirmed is Lily Allen, photographed by Rankin, will be the October cover for ELLE UK. The October issue will have a London theme, celebrating 25 years of London Fashion Week.

Lily will model designs made especially for her by a selection of Britain's best, including Giles, Preen, Louise Goldin and Burberry.

I think her blonde wig will probably take most of the attention away from the clothes though anyway. I love wigs, no idea why, I just think they're fabulous. ELLE Creative Director, Marissa Bourke, says "I love a wig on a celebrity, I don't know why, I just think it makes a really good graphic shot. I've been trying to do that for a while."

What do you think of Lily's wig? A good look or one to sidestep? I hope the wig makes it onto the subscribers cover.

You can watch the behind the scenes video from the shoot HERE.
The issue is out in the UK on September the 2nd.

Also anyone else notice Lily's doing Lindsay Lohan's (last months cover star) favourite pose? The chew the finger [click, click, click]. Who chews their finger better? Lily or Lindsay?

UPDATE: Yey! The wig made the cover. Have a look and find out more about the issue at elleuk.com
Scream

From what I have so far seen of the new issue of LOVE Taylor Swift is the best thing in it.

I don't know much about Taylor but from what I've seen (an Ellen interview and a Teen Vogue feature) she seems really sweet. And I love this photo of her taken by Angelo Pennetta.

The Fake Debate

I have a weakness for animal print and Louboutin shoes, so it was inevitable that I would fall for his Miss Clichy 140 boots. The only problem is if I were to buy them I would have to live on air and toast for two months. And there would be no magazine budget at all.
ASOS, the online retailer which always has a copy of everything, have produced some similar leopard print boots - off-puttingly titled ''in the style of Cheryl Cole''.

They're not as nice as the Loubou's (obviously) and there is the Cheryl Cole reference, but I do quite like them. I'm not very good at fakes though. The only fake item I've ever bought was a Chloe Paddington bag, which I was £20 from Camden Market. I used it for a few weeks pretending it was the real thing, but it felt fake. It was a complete waste of time. Also I'm now much more aware of the counterfeiting industry [read a great article by Dana Thomas on fake bags HERE] and feel terrible for ever buying a fake, it's not something I would do again.

Obviously the ASOS boots are just similar to the Louboutins, they're not an exact copy and they're not being sold on street corners. It's nothing like the fake Chloe bag as ASOS is a great company and everything I have bought from them in the past has been good quality. But there would still be the feeling that it's not the real thing. I'm not sure whether I can look at them without thinking of the Louboutins.

So then there comes the tricky questions:

Do you think it's ok to buy a fake if it comes from a reputable store and it's just lightly inspired by the item?

Are we lucky because we can get designer looks at all kinds of prices?

Or should it be the real deal or nothing at all?

The ASOS boots are not online yet but the product code is YH1OG

Don't say I'm not dedicated. I've been up since 8am waiting for someone to put this on Youtube - it took an hour but it was worth it.

Blondie

I thought that I would be in Paris at the perfect time to buy the September issue of Vogue Paris. Unfortunately the Daria cover was still in every newsstand and shop. The September issue must have come out the day after I left - such bad luck.
I'm sure you have all seen the cover shoot with Lara Stone by now, but my favourite shoot from the issue (which I've 'read' now on The Fashion Spot) is Blondie, with Raquel Zimmermann.
I adore Raquel with platinum hair.

Hit and Miss of the Week: Odd Selection

I don't know if it's because I was away for most of the week and missed everything or if there really was just a bizarre selection of celebrities out this week, but this is definitely the most random hit and miss lineup. There's the amazing Leslie Mann (my best dressed of the week), Georgina Chapman in too much makeup, Lindsay Lohan (yes, I was desperate...) and Blake Lively.
This week was also filled with images of Renee Zellweger. I never normally like her style but the orange Carolina Herrera mini she wore to the premiere of The September Issue was stunning.

Sweet Charity

It is always nice to be able to write about a fashion product that is also for a good cause, and the Splashmac campaign is a great combination of charity and fashion.

E-tailer MandMDirect.com have commissioned top fashion designers Christopher Kane, Sienna and Savannah Miller of Twenty8Twelve, James Long and Amy Molyneaux and Percy Parker of PPQ to design four Splashmacs for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Left - Jenny Frost in the PPQ Splashmac

Each mac costs £9.99 from MandMDirect.com and all proceeds go directly to the charity. The Splashmac campaign has already made 75K for the Teenage Cancer Trust in just one month.
This is a great opportunity to donate to a wonderful charity and get a piece of Christopher Kane for under £10.

AnOther Great Cover, and AnOther Great Cover, and AnOther...

The Fall/Winter AnOther Magazine cover is finally here. And it isn't just one great cover, there are four. I haven't been this excited about a magazine for months. Now I just have to decide which cover(s) to buy. Natalie Portman is my fave, closely followed by Kate Moss.

Back to School Bags

Even though I left school years ago I still get the urge to buy a 'back to school' bag around this time of the year. Getting a new school bag, pencil case and stationary at the end of August, ready for school in September, used to be really exciting when I was growing up - I always loved shopping. Before going to Paris I had a flick through some of my old Teen Vogue's and they all had 'back to school' features in them which made me wish for school-appropriate shopping trips even more.
So for those of you lucky, or unlucky enough (however you see it), to be starting a new year at school in September here are my favourite school bag styles, ranging from the Upper East Side to the Topshop budgets.

The Brown Satchel: I'm not an over-the-shoulder kind of girl, but recently I've been seeing people everywhere carrying satchels by the handles with the shoulder straps hooked over their arm (see Sienna below) which I think looks great. I love Topshop's take on the look just as much as Proenza Schouler's £10,000 version.

The Chic & Orange: Classic bags such as Mulbery's Bayswater and the Hermes Birkin look a lot more fun in orange. There is something about the combination of perfect structure and citrus colour which feels so right.

The Lightweight: Books are heavy, sometimes the best bag option is the one that weighs as little as possible but can hold a lot. Shoppers aren't always pretty but if you can find one as gorgeous as the Marni below you're set for the year.

Paris Part Deux: The Devil Wears Prada

The September Issue premiered in New York last night. I cannot wait to see this film. Anna Wintour wore a stunning dress from the Prada Resort 2010 collection, wonder if it was a little in joke for her...

I could sooo use some Resort right now. Paris is boiling. I think yesterday was the hottest I have ever been in my life, it’s not so fun.

The boiling Tuileries Gardens

The funniest thing was there were all these fat old men sunbathing by the river in speedos yesterday afternoon. I wanted to take some pictures to post just because it was the most hilarious thing but I thought that would be a bit gross. Instead here is the fabulous Giorgio Armani, looking better than the regular folk but still slightly questionable.

Bonjour From Paris

I've finally worked out how to get online from the hotel so have been catching up on what people were wearing yesterday. Renee Zellweger is suddenly looking very chic, no?
But the real star is Diane Kruger. First in Miu Miu then in Chanel. I love both but the Miu Miu is slightly winning over the Chanel for me. The red lips help.

Lara Stone covers the new Vogue Paris - The Fashion Spot

I don't normally do posts like this, but I am going to Paris for a few days and while I intend to post while I'm there I can't gaurantee I will have the time. So throughout the day I have been picking a few of the best stories/news online to keep you going.

Shoes of the Season

Shoes became the highlight of the S/S 09 collections back in February. Models falling off their Prada heels were front page news and everyone was copying Vuitton's Spicy sandals. By the time the A/W collections came around feet had had their fifteen minutes of fame and the attention faded. The thigh-high boot is having a moment, but everyone appears to have forgotten about the high heel.
But that doesn't mean there aren't some beautiful pairs waiting to be worn. My joint favourites of the season are Prada's studded Mary-Janes (I'll take them in red and pink, please) and Givenchy's baby-blue numbers. But then I'm also in love with Chloe's feminine cream heels with the bow detailing and the ankle boots and Calvin Klein, Balenciaga and Matthew Williamson.

Which are your faves?
