Nicole Richie's First Footwear Collection

Nicole Richie fans will be happy, because she’s expanding her fashion line and creating a ready-to-wear collection, Winter Kate, for spring 2010.
My-Wardrobe already stocks Nicole’s jewellery collection, House of Harlow 1960, which I’m a fan of. And from January 2010 they will stocking her first footwear collection.
Here is a little preview; I’m not sure what I think yet. I don’t hate it but not wowed by it either. You can definitely see the Nicole touches in the boho detailing. I’m more excited to see what the clothes will be like.

In a rather robotic-sounding quote, Nicole says about the collection: “Fashion should be accessible. That was my philosophy when designing House of Harlow 1960 and it remains my philosophy for Winter Kate. I started working on this collection in early 2009, the pieces can be dressed up, made casual but most importantly, they provide the wearer a means of self-expression and fun.”

Let me know what you think of the collection. Even though it's not love at first sight for me I'm happy Nicole is back doing her fashion thing.

Do you like Nicole's Footwear Collection?
Yes. I'd wear it.
It's OK, but I expected more from her.
Not at all.

VoucherCodes & Coco’s Tea Party’s £50 Harvey Nichols Giveaway

VoucherCodes.co.uk is an online money-saving website that offers a vast selection of discount vouchers and offers.

At the moment VoucherCodes are offering a Uniqlo voucher, a Boden discount code, a Marks and Spencer promotional code and a Karen Millen promotional code.

I always check out their Clothing and Accessories section before a shopping trip to see if I can get any good deals, as they get new offers in all the time.

This week I’ve teamed up with VoucherCodes.co.uk to offer one UK reader a £50 Harvey Nichols gift voucher.

Harvey Nichols is one of my favourite London stores – I could spend all day there. And they have a great selection of labels: Proenza Schouler, Marc Jacobs, McQueen, Christopher Kane, Matthew Williamson… The list just goes on.

To enter all you need to do is email a list of the top 10 fashion labels you would stock in your dream department store. The entry with my favourite selection will win the gift voucher.

Entries must be emailed to cocosteapartywin@yahoo.com
Any entries sent to my usual email address will not be counted.

Closing date is midnight on Tuesday the 3rd of November.

To view the terms and conditions of the competition click here.

Good luck!
Models on the Run

One of the most fun things that could happen in life is getting locked in a department store overnight. Imagine all the fun you could have playing with the clothes, testing all the new fragrances and trying on the shoes.

This appears to be the theme for Terry Richardson's A/W 09 shoot for Barney's. I've noticed stores have been doing more and more fashion shoots for instore magazines and lookbooks recently, but I've never seen a model lineup as good as this one. Anja Rubik, Catherine McNeil and Suvi Maria Koponen.

I guess they just liked the idea of playing around in Barney's all day.

If you had to be locked in a department store overnight, which one would you pick? I think I'd go for Selfridges.

Blake Hearts Chanel

I always find myself wanting the handbags Blake Lively carries in Gossip Girl, she always gets the best pick of the bunch. And it seems her personal taste is just as good as Serena's. Because for the last month she has barely let go of her Chanel quilted bag - I love the colour, it makes a nice change from black. I think it looks best when worn with leather jackets.

I've been waiting ages for a Blake topic to come up so I could post this image from AnOther Magazine's Fall issue. She's modelling Ralph Lauren.

I wouldn't be shocked if she gets a modelling contract for a Ralph Lauren fragrance in the near future. She 'fits' the brand completely. Don't you think?

Rainy Days in NYC

chan

I nearly didn't post this picture because I feel a little bit odd blogging about celebrity children, but it was just too damn cute I couldn't resist.

Michelle Williams and Matilda Ledger were snapped on the rainy streets of New York City this morning, and they both looked so sweet. I've been rolling my eyes at the oversized glasses trend for months now, but Michelle actually gets away with them. And I'm in love with her duffle coat. Matilda always looks adorable but I particularly love her yellow raincoat and pink Hunter boots - only kids get away with pairing yellow and pink.

It's really sad how desperate I am for Gap to put Michelle and Matilda and Katie and Suri in their holiday ad campaign this year. I say this every year and I know it's never going to happen but it's my Christmas wish.

If you're still looking for a winter coat channel Michelle's style with this Y-3 number, above, from Net-A-Porter. I love it.

Also, isn't Michelle looking great with longer hair? I love her with the pixie cut but I'm liking the change.

Back to Black

In the week running up to Halloween why not channel Anjelica Huston’s gothic Addams Family look? Straight hair and pointed heels are having a moment I think. I'm obsessed with the Nogoy clutch below, it's witchy chic at its best.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

1. Barry M black nail polish. 2. Ostrich skin clutch by Nogoy at Browns. 3. crystal clip-on earrings by Yves Saint Laurent at Net-A-Porter. 4. Cosmic shoulder dress from Topshop. 5. Metal bangle by Alexander McQueen at Net-A-Porter. 6. Suede ankle boot by Christian Louboutin at Browns.

What will be be dressing up as this Halloween?

Hit and Miss of the Week: Nicole is Back

Nicole Richie is finally back on the paparazzi radar - which means yummy style pics for us to enjoy. I've missed her presence these last few months, so it's great to have her back.
I can't wait to see what her next look will be, or what she'll be dressing Sparrow in. Another of my favourites was looking fabulous this week too, Diane Kruger. I'm very jealous of her polka-dot tights.
And then there was the not so good: Taylor Momsen looking sulky in a gorgeous nude dress (you look good, no need to have a strop) and Katie Holmes attempting the visible bra look.
As always share your thoughts on the looks of the week in the comments section. Have a fab Sunday...

She's in Fashion

Recently I've been looking at stylist Caroline Sieber's style a lot. She's become one of my top sources of inspiration over the past few months. If you weren't previously aware, Caroline is Emma Watson's stylist. But I'm more interested in what she dresses herself in.
Whether it's monochrome Chanel, feminine Prada or a ditzy polka-dot blouse she looks amazing. And her super-glossy brunette hair makes me regret getting highlights put in.

It's an Olsen Day

Last night Mary-Kate and Ashley became members of the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

olsen09

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen with Diane von Furstenberg and Isaac Mizrahi.

Also welcomed into the CFDA (by Diane von Furstenberg) last night were Alexander Wang, Jason Wu, Chris Benz and Marcella and Johan Lindeberg.

Ashley of course wore The Row - with a Chanel jacket. Her hair is looking amazing at the moment. I have a massive hair crush!

What do you think of their looks? And do you agree with a celebrity fashion-line making it into the Council of Fashion Designers?

I just found this old Vogue editorial from 1998, shot by Testino. I'm obsessed with the styling, it has the 90s Kate Moss-y grunge-y throw it on vibe.

A Lesson in Owning it

gallery_enlarged-whitney-museum-gala-10202009-17

Lake Bell wearing a Versace A/W 09 dress at the Whitney Museum Gala, last night. Time and time again Lake kills it on the red carpet. When someone outshines Chanel Iman, Alexa Chung and a nutty looking Lindsay Lohan you know they've got something sepcial.

And thinking about last weeks Miu Miu post, it just clicked - Lake would make a perfect Miu Miu ad girl, don't you think?

The Little Boxy Bag

Rachel Bilson watchers will have noticed that throughout the summer she was constantly carrying a little boxy green bag. The bag in question was Chloe's Hunter. Whether she was on a date of grabbing lunch her Chloe bag stayed by her side, and looked right in every situation.

rb1

Over the past couple of weeks I've started to notice lots of boxy bags in stores. The best highstreet option has to be the orange M&S bag, which looks like it costs a lot more than £30. I'm very tempted to buy one (I'm sure they're going to go fast) but I find it impossible to narrow the contents of my bag down to such a small size.
If I had the cash I don't think I'd be able to resist the blue velvet Chloe. I hope Rachel adds this one to her Chloe collection for the winter.

What do you think of the little boxy bags? Cute or much too small?

Also I would just like to say a big thank you to my 1001 (at the moment) followers and everyone else who keeps coming back.

Classic Armani/Classic Nadja

I found these old Giorgio Armani adverts from (I'm guessing) the early 1990's featuring supermodel Nadja Auermann. Nadja looks phenomenal and there is something really inspiring about the simple silhouettes of Armani's designs right now, no?

Hit and Miss of the Week: Floppy Week

It's been a bit of a floppy week for fashion. Sienna slipped up in a weired jumpsuit at the David Letterman show, Blake Lively wrapped herself in ugly lace courtesy of Marchesa and Demi Moore wore a gorgeous Lanvin dress that somehow didn't quite work on her. Such a shame. It gets even more depressing when one of the few hits is held by Kristen from The Hills. What next? Audrina looking better than Diane Kruger?
Oh, and then there is Jessica Simpson, bless her style soul. She doesn't look great but at least she tried! I'll always be a Jess fan.

I am not a Plaid Shirt

Though I love plaid shirts (particularly a red Topshop one that is oh so warm) I don't think I can bring myself to wear one again. Last A/W it was plaid overkill, by everyone, me included. It's understandable because plaid shirts are nice, and they're cosy. But I couldn't be more bored of plaid if I tried.
This Autumn I have another long-sleeved shirt in mind, sadly I can't really find it anywhere. My ideal A/W 09 shirt is red, printed and silky. Exactly like the one Miranda Kerr was wearing this week.

I went shopping yesterday and my dream shirt was nowhere to be found. My-Wardrobe has an Elizabeth and James top that sort of fits the bill.

Do any of you clever people know if there's anything similar on the highstreet? Because the only shirts I can find are plaid. And I'm not going down that road again...

The November Issues

I only read i-D magazine every now and then, so it's taken me about a week to look at the three covers for their Fall issue. I love the Linder Sterling cover, so creative. It's definitely one of my favourite covers of the year.

i-D

There seem to be a quite a lot of fantastic covers this November, actually. I love the Frida Giannini/James Franco i-D cover (the third cover in the i-D trio features Shakira - kind of random), and Lily Cole on Dazed & Confused. W's November cover is the best they've had all year, you can't go wrong with Linda Evangelista, can you?

novcovers

And then there's the 'controversial' Vogue US cover. I have to say the photoshopping is bad, but what offends me most is the presence of Nicole Kidman, for some reason I just find her hugely annoying. I blame Nicole, not Anna!

I'd love to know what you think is the best Novemeber cover. And let me know what you think about the Vogue cover...

My favourite November cover is...
i-D, Linder Sterling
i-D, Frida and James
Dazed and Confused, Lily Cole
Vogue, Nicole, Marion, Pen and Kate
W, Linda Evangelista

On the Red Carpet With: Rose Byrne

This year I have fallen in love with Australian actress Rose Byrne's style. Best known for her roles in Damages (which I haven't seen) and movie Adam (which I want to see) she only really got my attention this year. The yellow Marc Jacobs dress she wore to the Met Gala this May is one of my favourite red carpet moments of the year, and I'm still loving the Christian Cota she wore to the Adam premiere.
She is definitely one to keep an eye on.

For the Emmy awards this year Rose wore her hair straight for a change and a romantic pink Valentino. She was rocking pink feathers last year in a Christian Cota Fall 2008 dress, and looking very Emmy Rossum, no?

Rose looked amazing in this white Clavin Klein Spring 2009 dress. I love how she takes the minimalistic Clavin look and mixes it with glamorous hair.

While Rose looks great in minimal designs she can also pull of cutesy prom styles. Like this fabulous floral Marc Jacobs Resort 2010 dress that she wore to the MTV Video awards this summer.

I adore Rose's long-sleeved silver dress. Worn with black pumps, minimal makeup and her perfectly blown-out hair she looks so chic.

My favourite ever Rose looks have to be this amazing lace Christian Cota dress - the shoulders are gorgeous - and the bright yellow Marc Jacobs Spring 2009 dress that she wore to this years Met Ball.

Do you have a style crush on Rose too? And who do you think has had a great red carpet record this year?
