Kate Bosworth's ANTM Poses

I've always said Kate Bosworth is more of a model than an actress, as she graces the covers of magazines much more than she appears in movies. I don't mind this as Kate takes a great picture, and she can also wear just about anything. Red leather pants included.
Last night Kate attended a Valentino party and posed so hard for the cameras it looked like she was auditioning for America's Next Top Model. I love watching the auditions for ANTM as the poses are overworked and over-the-top. It's pure comedy.
Kate's rocking the leather Valentino trousers, but is she working the camera a little too much? See what you think, here is a selection of her best poses:

Personally loving these pictures. She may have gone a bit overboard but it's cheered me up after a long week. Do you think it was too much or just a bit of fun? And what do you think of the red trousers? Do or don't?

Now That's A Lot Better

Gwyneth's Armani short suit, that she wore to the Iron Man 2 premiere, didn't go down very well this week. But yesterday Gwyneth gave shorts another go, for her trip to the Letterman show. This time, you'll be pleased to know, she wore them perfectly.

gwyneth-paltrow-042910-2

I love the pairing of the slouchy nude shirt (note: she's working two trends at once) with the black shorts. And the heels she's chosen for this look are a million times better than the pair she wore to the Iron Man premiere.
I'm on the lookout for a fab pair of khaki or tan shorts to wear this summer, and I'll definitely be styling them like Gywneth does.

So far my favourite pair are these Chloe shorts below - but they're obviously out of my price range. Has anyone seen a similar highstreet pair? Any recommendations would be welcome.

Do you prefer Gwyneth's casual shorts? Or were you a fan of the Armani look?

Jessica Alba in Chloe

A year ago I never would have predicted that Jessica Alba would be rocking designers like Berardi, Proenza and Chloe on the red carpet. She has made an amazing style transformation, and last night proved just how far she's come at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of her new movie, The Killer Inside Me. The film also stars one of my favourites, Kate Hudson, and surprisingly it was Jessica stole the show on the red carpet. Well done Jess!

jessalba

I think this Chloe S/S 2010 chiffon maxi dress was a fantastic choice, as we've seen her in a lot of colourful minis recently, and this proves she's not a one trick pony. I'm now hoping that Jessica is a guest at the Met Gala next week, I'd love to see her at a big fashion event.
What do you think of her Chloe dress? And what label would you like to see her wear next?

The Iron Man 2 Premiere is an Armani Affair

The last time Gwyneth and Scarlett promoted Iron Man 2 together they looked very similar, but for the LA premiere last night they went for totally different styles - albeit in the same colour and by the same designer.
Scarlett wore a shimmering dress from the Armani Privé S/S collection. I think it's quite an interesting choice, as Scarlett tends to stick with figure-hugging silhouettes. But I don't like the shoes though, they let the look down.

Gwyneth stuck to the same colour pallette, but went for a short suit, by Armani. On paper Gwyneth wearing a short suit to a premiere sounds like a great idea - she has the legs for it - but I'm not keen on this look. I'm getting bored of bold shoulders for a start, and I am not liking the shoes she wore. Normally she has amazing taste in shoes - what went wrong?

What I really wanted to see Gwyneth wear was the blue ruched frilly number (above) from the Stella McCartney S/S 2010 collection. I think Gwyneth would look killer in it, don't you?
What did you think of the Iron Man 2 Premiere fashion? Who was the best dressed?

Hit and Miss of the Week: Back-to-Front

This was the week that Amanda Seyfried wore a Bodyamr dress back-to-front on the red carpet. Luckily for her the back of the dress was a lovely colour, so it didn't look too bad, but it was still a rather embarrassing fashion mistake. If it was a mistake, that is.
And it wasn't just Amanda slipping up with her wardrobe this week; Katy Perry wore an unflattering Vuitton S/S piece to Coachella, and Kylie was spotted in some rather ill-fitting mustard yellow trousers.
But let's look on the bight side instead. Jessica Simpson looked fabulous in a Stella McCarntney dress, Demi Moore rocked a sexy little purple number when visiting Letterman, and J-Lo (is it wrong to still call her J-Lo?) made many appearances - some good, some bad - this week.

I'm Cheating on my Blog With a Magazine

From Monday I’ll be interning at a magazine for a few weeks. I’m going to try and blog as much as possible throughout this period, but can’t guarantee posting will be as regular as normal. The Hit & Miss post will continue every Sunday, and I’ll try to post whenever I get the chance. Probably mostly on weekends and in the evening. I feel oddly anxious about leaving the blog for such a long time, but hopefully it will fly by.

You can follow me on twitter at www.twitter.com/cocosteaparty for little updates, and I will be to posting every day again as soon as possible.

Who is Your Favourite Iron Lady?

There was a cast screening of Iron Man 2 in LA last night, and leading ladies Gwyneth Platrow and Scarlett Johansson both turned up in close-fitting grey dresses. I think they both looked event-appropriate, as this wasn't a premiere and therefore didn't call for a show-stopping dress. I've heard that the UK premiere for Iron Man 2 will take place in Westfield shopping centre, which is a weird idea. Can you imagine Gwyneth Paltrow in Westfield? And what will they wear? I can't wait to see that.

ironman

While they both looked fabulous last night it is a bit of a shame they wore such similar dresses. Scarlett's is by Roland Mouret and Gwyneth wore a piece from Victoria Beckham's collection. The last time Gwyneth promoted an Iron Man movie she had a fabulous shoe collection that started Gwyn-mania, so last night she rocked a fabulous pair of Georgina Goodman LOVE heels.

They are available online at Matches. I think they're gorgeous.

So who do you think looked best in their grey dress last night? Are you sticking with Gwyneth or has Scarlett wooed you with her Mouret?

I Love Giles More Than Lindsay

I'm sure by now you are all caught up on the rumours about Giles Deacon and Emanuel Ungaro. In case you missed it, British designer (and a personal favourite of mine) Giles Deacon was spotted having lunch with the owner of Emanuel Ungaro earlier in the week. And then it was announced that Estrella Archs, who had designed for Ungaro alongside Lindsay Lohan, has left the label.
There has been no word yet on whether Giles will fill the Lindsay Lohan shaped hole at Ungaro, but it would definitely be interesting to see him design for another house alongside his own label Giles. His A/W 2010 collection was gorgeous as ever, with a sixties vibe and a scrummy colour palette of caramel, chocolate and orange.

One of my favourite details from the collection were the delicate bow-belts, worn predominately over little dresses that would look right at home in an episode of Mad Men. I think this a great little styling trick that you could work into your summer wardrobe to stay ahead of the game.

Ungaro himself did once say "I adore the British. They are the strangest people in the world and certainly the most exotic. And they do strange things too."
So maybe Giles is the right man for the job. Whatever happens I hope he keeps his namesake label going, as he's one of my favourite British designers.

What do you make of the rumours? And do you think Giles is a good fit for Emanuel Ungaro? I think it goes without saying he will be a lot better than Lindsay Lohan, but is there another designer you'd like to see at Ungaro instead?

Drip Drip Drop Little April Showers

My birthday is in April, and growing up I remember always being annoyed that the calender pictures for April always included rain. This April hasn't been that rainy, but in case it changes in an instant (as British weather so regularly does) there's the latest capsule collection from Burberry to keep us entertained.
The Burberry April Showers collection launches in selected stores and online today. And as the name suggests, it's full of rain-friendly clothing.

My favourite pieces in the collection are, of course, the trench coats. With a slightly cropped sleeve these styles are perfect for spring. As far as I'm concerned Burberry designs the most desirable coats in the world. I dream of Burberry trench coats, and the cream coat [above] is my latest Burberry obsession.

I think the menswear is even better than the women's, however, with some great colour choices - my favourite of which are the navy and plum, below.

Sadly Emma Watson doesn't star in the Burberry April Showers campaign, but there is a cute little video which accompanies the collection, and it somehow manages to make rain look like fun.

What do you think of the Burberry April Showers collection?

Sarah Jessica Parker Works It

sjpstreet

This is a lesson in cool. Casually roll up a pair of old denims, wear with the ankle boots you bought last season and any old tank top you can find. Wrap a Vuitton scarf around your neck, and top it off with a hat Johnny Depp would be proud of. This is how SJP does casual cool. I like it.
You'll also note the Halston Heritage Slouchy ultrasuede Sac Bag she's carrying. It's growing on me big time. And it's a rather cheap (for a designer handbag, that is) £350, which is even better.

Sarah Jessica's Halston handbag is available at Net-a-Porter, but will probably sell out fast now she's been snapped with it.
What do you think of her look? Loving the Halston handbag too?

My, What a Lot of Clogs

Although clogs are being branded the 'it' accessory for spring 2010 I have done a pretty good job of ignoring them. I flick past clog themed shopping-pages in magazines, avoid them in shops, and scrunch my nose in disgust any time they are mentioned in my company. I just don't like clogs.
So I'd been plodding along, happily ignoring clogs, until I received an email titled 'CLOGS!' from Browns Focus this afternoon, announcing that New York boutique No. 6 have designed a line of clogs and clog boots, that are now available at Browns.

I have never seen so many variations of a clog before. There are peep-toes, tassels, lace-ups, florals, buckles...
Apparently they are also 'very eco friendly' and 'because of their construction, there is almost no waste and every scrap of leather is used.' Which is nice to know. I guess if you really must wear clogs, you might as well wear eco-friendly clogs.
The current poster-girl for clogs is Alexa Chung, who even wore them on her recent Vogue UK cover. Rachel Bilson has also been spotted in a pair, but since Alexa has worn hers many times she gets the title of Queen Clog.

For those, who like Alexa, love a clog, here are some of the other styles out there at the moment. I think the Miu Miu's are the best.

1. Miu Miu clogs at net-a-porter.com. 2. Lottie clogs at topshop.com. 3. Jada clog at kurtgeiger.com. 4. Ash clog at kurtgeiger.com.

Despite the wide selection I still don't think I'll warm to clogs. They're just not for me. But what do you think? Are you a fan of clogs? What have you been wearing them with?

The Times says SATC is not a stylish movie

Now I'm not going to hate on Sex and the City, or the fantastic Patricia Field, you know I am a massive fan of both. But I wasn't that into the fashion in the first SATC movie. Maybe it was because every outfit had been photographed to death before the film even came out, or maybe it was just too 'trendy'. Either way Carrie's wardrobe lacked the unpredictable magic that it had on TV.
Today in The Times Lisa Armstrong and the rest of the fashion team compiled their list of the 25 most stylish films of all time, and, shock horror, SATC isn't included.

On the SATC movie they write: "With the exception of the inimitably chic Parker, who could — and has — made boob tubes look glamorous, the other three co-stars appear like a bunch of drag queens on a day trip to Bluewater."

They also comment on the "Hollywood hype machine that insists on behaving as if every member of the female gender is now in the grip of a frenzy of anticipation at the prospect of watching SJP & Co gyrate across the screen in their designer outfits."

I'm a hardcore SATC fan, but even I can't shake up any enthusiasm for the above outfits from the upcoming sequel. If they end up in the movie I may actually cry.
To read the article in full (it's funny, and oh so true) click HERE.

And, out of interest, what do you think is the most stylish movie of all time?
In Search of Colour
The sun has finally come out in the UK, and I even saw a few people wearing flip-flops yesterday. This means it is officially time to start dressing for summer, but the problem is the inside of my wardrobe is seriously lacking in colour.
There is colour in there; it's just mostly blue or very dark shades of green, purple and red. I need a big snap of bright colours, and I'm leaning towards to surf-friendly shades of the Proenza Schouler S/S 10 collection. Yes, it won't get me out of my blue and green rut, but at least there is some yellow in there too.
Print is also a big deal with me. I'm desperate to get some more print into my wardrobe, but I find it really hard to find quality prints on a budget. I hate the itsy-bitsy florals that dominate the highstreet, so I'm praying this season there will be a wider (and yummier) selection on offer.
Here are a few of the best summer pieces online at the moment. I love the Anna Sui sandals, which are currently on The Outnet, so hurry if you want them!

Chloë Sevigny Goes Super Short

Over the weekend Chloë Sevigny attended the Contemporary Art Museum's DADA Ball in a very short dress by Versus. It's from the S/S 2010 collection, which was Christopher Kane's first for the label, and is a little reminiscent of Elizabeth Hurley's infamous Versace dress.

chloesversus

I think the dress looks fab on Chloë. She even carried the same bag as the runway model, which helped protect her modesty when sitting down.

I'm a big fan of what Kane is doing at Versus (and I'm still waiting to see Emma Watson rock a piece from the A/W collection) so it's great to see one of the dresses on someone as cool and stylish as Chloë.
At the moment I'm in a Versace mindset too, as I'm currently reading Deborah Ball's House of Versace: The Untold Story of Genius, Murder, and Survival. I've always found the house of Versace fascinating, and it will definitely be interesting to see how Christopher Kane's role in the house develops over the years.

What do you think of Chloë in Versus?

Vanessa Hudgens and the Floppy Hat

I wouldn't exactly say I follow Vanessa Hudgens' style religiously, but recently I have been paying a lot more attention to what she's wearing. She's not a Nicole Richie or anything, but Vanessa does have that LA look going on, and she wears it well.

FNP_EW_0075190

She was spotted at Coachella with Zac Efron yesterday, wearing a cute floppy hat. It's the best Coachella accessory (apart from the fab Alexander Wang shades, of course) so far, and it's not the first time she's been pictured wearing it. In fact, she's seen with her floppy hat far more than she is with Efron.

I now have hat envy, and want a similar style badly. So far ASOS has the widest selection, with the two styles below being the best. I'm sure I've seen hats almost identical to Vanessa's in H&M before though, so I might pay them a visit.

Are you keen on Vanessa's hat? Do you think she wears it well? And what would you pair a floppy hat with?

Coachella Friends are More Stylish than the Coachella Celebs

I was quite excited to see the paparazzi shots from Coachella festival, as it always has a good celebrity turnout, and I hoped there would be some outfit-candy. Interestingly I found very little to get excited about on the actual celebrities, but their friends were dressed well.
Well dressed friend number one was spotted with Katy Perry and Dita von Teese, you'll notice her, as she's pointing to her stylish Alexander Wang shades. Well, if you've got them, flaunt them...

Stylish friend number two was hanging out with Kate Bosworth. Kate looked great throughout the weekend, as Just Jared visitors will know. Yet I felt I'd seen most of her outfits before (in fact, I think she actually did wear the above look a few weeks ago) so there was little to inspire me. Her friend, however, looked gorgeous in the floral printed frock. I have a feeling it's Kate Moss for Topshop. Am I right?

The actual famous people generally stuck to a uniform of denim hotpants (or printed hotpants if you're Whitney Port) and simple tanks. I'm sure it's the most comfortable option if you're stuck in the desert, but it's not very exciting to look at.

The most interesting looks came from Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and the lovely Beyonce. I just wish that Beyonce had paired that lace crop with some on-trend leather shorts. She'd easily have been the best dressed at Coachella then...

What did you think of the celebrity looks at Coachella this year?

Hit and Miss of the Week: Long Sleeves

It is a little ironic that the moment the weather warms up celebrities start wearing long sleeved dresses on the red carpet. They always want to be one step ahead. I loved both Olivia Palermo and Jaime King's long sleeved numbers this week.
Working a more summery look, though, was Zoe Saldana in a gorgeous orange Lanvin dress, and Jessica Simpson slipped into a Matthew Williamson mini, which while colourful, didn't do much for her.
And, finally, in much dressier looks were Camilla Belle and Hilary Duff. I love Hilary, and I do think she looks lovely in her Vera Wang number, but it looks more like the dress is wearing her. Camilla, on the other hand, is unbeatable on the red carpet. I adore the YSL dress with the bow-detail she wore this week.

Fun on the Highstreet

So, who tried to score an Outnet bargain this morning? I managed to get into the sale as soon as it started, but didn't buy anything, as all the sizes were selling out sooooo quickly. Whoever managed to get the Marc Jacobs bag, Chloe bag or the gorgeous Chloe shoes, you are lucky, lucky, lucky! And I hate you a little bit...
Buying a designer item on sale is always stressful. Even when you're not physically fighting in a store for that one magical purchase you're mentally exhausted by crashing websites, like the mania on The Outnet today.
On the highstreet there are two new collections hitting shops which are sure to be popular, but hopefully not as stressful as purchasing a £1,500 RM by Roland Mouret dress for £1. The first is Zac Posen for Target, which launched last night.

Both Claire Danes (who was wearing a maxi dress from the Target collection) and Selma Blair came out to support Zac. It feels like ages since we last saw Selma on the red carpet, and I've missed her. I'm so into those heels she's wearing - does anyone know who they're by? The pointed-toe is gorgeous!

And for all of us unlucky Brits who can't get to Target, there's the Miss Selfridge Gossip Girl collection, which also launched last night. I was crushed to find out Chace Crawford would be at the launch party, as I had an invite but was on my way back from Wales, so couldn't go.

The collection is made up of eight dresses, in the style of Gossip Girl characters Blair, Serena, Jenny and Vanessa. The above two dresses are in the style of Blair. I love the peter pan collar on the white and floral frock.
At first I thought it was a little odd that Chace was the GG cast member promoting this collection. After all he's never worn a dress in the show. But he's in London working as the guest editor of Grazia this week. Although, doesn't seem to know much about fashion, as he thinks Los Angeles and Tokyo are two of the four fashion capitals. Watch his Grazia fashion quiz, below, to see just how little he knows about fashion.

Love that he's shocked by the return of the bum-bag at Vuitton though...

What do you think of Zac Posen for Target? And would you wear a dress based on your favourite GG lady?

Magnificent Maggie

maggie gyllenhaal

I'm a little late posting about the Metropolitan Opera gala, that took place earlier in the week. But when Maggie Gyllenhaal looks this great in a nude YSL dress it's better to post about it late than never at all. The dress is Edition Soir 2010, and her sandals are also Yves Saint Laurent.
So far I think this is the best celebrity example of spring/summer's nude trend. Do you love it too?

I just found this amazing W editorial, A Boy Named Sue, from 2004. It was photographed by Craig McDean, and the model is the gorgeous Jessica Stam. I'm not sure who styled the shoot, or which month it was published, so if you know either please leave a comment. The full editorial can be found HERE for those haven't seen it before either.

A Quick Goodbye: For the next two days I'll be visiting my Gran in Wales, so won't be blogging. Regular posting should be back to normal by Friday, and if I get good mobile signal I'll hopefully still be tweeting. See ya soon.
