Eva Rocks the Betty Draper Frock

The 1950's sundress is definitely having a moment this summer. First came the obsession with January Jones' Mad Men wardrobe (who doesn't want to be Betty Draper?) then the gorgeous Prada Prints collection, which was full of the most beautiful vintage-style summer dresses, arrived in stores. Carey Mulligan looked beautiful in a Prada Print dress at the Cannes Film Festival earlier in the year, and she's not the only celebrity to give the look a go. Yesterday Eva Mendes was snapped wearing a knee-length printed number to the Jimmy Kimmel Live show in LA. It's a great look for Eva: grown up but with a feminine edge.

There technically may only be one month of summer left but I think the 50's style sundress is still worth investing in. If you can snap up a Prada number (or find the real-deal vintage shopping) then you get top points, but there are some good versions of the look elsewhere. At Miss Selfridge this white floral style comes in at a reasonable £45 and for her Anglomania collection Vivienne Westwood created this pink and black design which could easily be worn into autumn/winter.

Wear the look like Eva, with muted accessories and pretty wedge heels. Or be a season ahead and pair the 50's frock with a beehive and headband - very Prada a/w 2010.

Mini Trend: Wings on Your Feet

The spring/summer 2010 collections feel like a lifetime ago. But the weather is only just allowing us to step into the S/S looks. One of my favourite mini trends for the season is wings on shoes.
Think back to last September, and you may remember the cute flats in Marc Jacobs' collection, which came with wings sewn onto the straps. Very cute.


While I haven't seen this look translate to the highstreet (yet) Vivienne Westwood is also into to wings. Creating a pair of winged-wedge-sandals, available from my-wardrobe.com.


I think the Marc Jacobs pair is more my style, but the Vivienne wedges are great to look at. I'd love to see someone walking down the street in a pair.
It's a look that's quite easy to do yourself too. Just grab some scraps of fabric, cut out some wings and sew them onto a pair of ballet flats or strappy sandals. And off you fly.

Annie in Westood

Last night, in London, the world premiere of Alice in Wonderland took place - and Anne Hathaway managed to completely surprise me with her red carpet dress. I guessed she might wear a British designer for the red carpet - as lots of American stars do when they attend a UK premiere - but I expected someone more along the lines of Alice Temperley, Stella McCartney or even Alexander McQueen. I did not expect to see her in Vivienne Westwood.



It's just that I see Anne's taste as very classic Hollywood. It's very chic, very Armani. And though Vivienne's designs have such a timeless shape (that beautiful emphasis on the waist) they've always seemed a bit too 'edgy' for Annie.
But look how wrong I was. I think she looks gorgeous in this dress. Even with the slightly in-between length it still works beautifully on Anne, who really was glowing.
Props to Rachel Zoe for putting "Armani Annie" in a Westwood dress, hopefully it wont be the last time she wears the label.

Money, Money, Money

Recently I have become obsessed with purses, I've never really cared that much about what I put my money in but now it seems really important. For one, a good purse instantly makes the mess inside your handbag look less disgusting. And my bags are always filled with empty wrappers and old train tickets.
When it comes to wallets and purses I prefer them to be on the fun side, with bright colours, studs and maybe some snakeskin, but there are also some great classic styles out there too. These are my favourites:
