How Very Sofia
I've just had a flick through the Marc by Marc Jacobs Resort 2011 collection and I'm in love. You know Marc has always been a favourite of mine, so it's hardly a shock that I love this collection.
The clothes all have that lovely worn-in casual vibe, and could probably fit seamlessly into any wardrobe. Who wouldn't like a silky pink sundress, and a flirty strapless number?
I think the reason I like the collection so much is because the styling reminds me of Sofia Coppola. As one of Marc's besties I'm sure her effortless way of dressing has shaped his vision of the 'Marc woman', and I can imagine her wearing many of these designs.





None of the looks made a statement in the way that mainline Marc pieces do, but that's not the point of Resort, is it? These are clothes designed to be worn. And I'd happily wear any and all of them.

Miley's Three Steps to Fashion

I'm still not feeling 100% (which is probably quite clear, as I'm writing about Miley Cyrus) but I can't neglect the blog for another day. So here is a Miley Cyrus post. Yes, really, Miley Cyrus.
Normally she's someone I would never imagine writing about, but did you see her at the Oscars? She looked pretty good in her custom Jenny Packham dress. And since then I've been noticing her style a lot more. Perhaps she's working with a new stylist? Or maybe her taste just matured, but she's now working the LA hippy look that's popular with Kate Hudson. And it works for Miley.


First Miley showed up at the Oscars in a frothy number that proved she could do red carpet glamour. I approved, but she made a real style statement by wearing Isabel Marant on Good Morning America.


The fashion snob inside me was thinking "Miley Cyrus? Wearing Isabel Marant? Just no!" but she looks good, so I have to love it. I'm happy for the Miley's of the world to wear Marant if they do it well. Just as I'd be happy for Heidi Montag to carry a Birkin if she did it justice. Which sadly she does not.


And finally, Miley was spotted out and about carrying this very pretty embellished handbag. I can easily imagine Kate Hudson carrying this bag, and you know I love Kate Hudson. When did Miley develop such good taste?

The Little Boxy Bag

Rachel Bilson watchers will have noticed that throughout the summer she was constantly carrying a little boxy green bag. The bag in question was Chloe's Hunter. Whether she was on a date of grabbing lunch her Chloe bag stayed by her side, and looked right in every situation.



Over the past couple of weeks I've started to notice lots of boxy bags in stores. The best highstreet option has to be the orange M&S bag, which looks like it costs a lot more than £30. I'm very tempted to buy one (I'm sure they're going to go fast) but I find it impossible to narrow the contents of my bag down to such a small size.
If I had the cash I don't think I'd be able to resist the blue velvet Chloe. I hope Rachel adds this one to her Chloe collection for the winter.

The Perfect Match

Earlier in the week I made a trip to London's Marc by Marc store. It's dangerous for me to visit. I'm not obsessed with labels, but anything that has Marc Jacobs written on it instantly becomes something I want. Water bottles, T-shirts, even drawstring bags - and I loathe drawstring bags. The fact almost everything in the Marc by Marc store has Marc Jacobs written across it and is also affordable is a deadly combination for me.

This time I managed to stay realistic, and only bought a bracelet. Because, really, do I need a Marc Jacobs water bottle? I wear my YSL ring everyday, and when I saw the bracelet (a bargain at £24) below, which is so freakishly similar to my YSL ring, I had to buy it. They're the perfect match.


The carrier bag that it was wrapped in is the dinkiest thing ever, I've had to keep it. I'm thinking of giving it to my cat, Mr Twigles. It's the perfect size for him. He could keep his toy mouse in it. Marc already does a dog clothing line, Bark Jacobs. If only he could do one for cats too...


And out of interest are there any shops that you can never leave without buying at least one thing?

Olivia's Look

Who doesn't love Olivia Palermo's style? This week she looked amazing in a gorgeous oversized necklace, white shirt, shorts and silver pumps. It's such a simple look and done properly (like Olivia) can look so impressive.



I'm sure most of the ingredients to this look are already in your wardrobes. And if not they're easy to get.

Money, Money, Money

Recently I have become obsessed with purses, I've never really cared that much about what I put my money in but now it seems really important. For one, a good purse instantly makes the mess inside your handbag look less disgusting. And my bags are always filled with empty wrappers and old train tickets.
When it comes to wallets and purses I prefer them to be on the fun side, with bright colours, studs and maybe some snakeskin, but there are also some great classic styles out there too. These are my favourites:
