The Summer Escape

I've spent the entire summer in London, which doesn't really bother me as I like to be in the city and constantly kept busy. I'm not very good at relaxing. This Kim Noorda editorial makes me wish I'd gone on a road trip this summer though. I adore the Etro trousers in the first image and the dip-dyed DVF dress worn with the trilby. Road trips probably look far less glamourous than this, but I'm more than happy to take the Harper's Bazaar version.

Hello September Issues

You all know I'm a full on magazine geek, so for me September is like Christmas as the glossies all go supersized. The UK issues always seem to come out a week or so before the US publications, so although it's only the 2nd of August the September covers are all out in the UK.
Matthias Vriens-McGrath photographed Emily Blunt for UK ELLE this month, and she looks wonderfully vampy in Valentino lace. Over at Vanity Fair Lady Gaga was photographed by Nick Knight (the US edition has the same cover) and I am super excited for this issue. I'm not a huge Gaga fan but I adore this cover and I think it could become a bit of a collectors item too.

Vogue UK went down the predictable route and chose Kate Moss (photographed by Patrick Demarchelier) for their September issue. I love the image of Kate in the Burberry pea coat. Alexandra Shulman, UK Vogue's editor, explained to the Guardian earlier in the year why they tend to stick with Kate for September, saying:
"Kate Moss sells well for us but then we tend to play to our strengths and put her on the September cover – it's better to use your ammunition on a big issue rather than battling against a difficult seasonal situation."
And finally, fellow supermodel Gisele Bundchen covers UK UK Harper's Bazaar. I don't buy UK Harper's nearly enough so I'm going to make sure I get this issue. You can't go wrong with a bit of Gisele can you? And the Cedric Buchet photos look gorgeous.
I can't wait to see the US covers now...

This Way to Paradis




It's a beautiful sunny day in London, which is making it difficult to focus on blogging. So until I think of something worthwhile to write about why not stare adoringly at Vanessa Paradis in the July issue of UK Harper's Bazaar?
The issue should still be on newsstands for another week or so, so if you don't have a copy yet snap one up quickly and read it in the sunshine.

Pop Stars Cover the UK Glossies

The monthly glossies are hitting newstands again - yippee. And there are some interesting covers out there. While UK Vogue has chosen a model for the June issue (click HERE to see Angela Lindvall's cover) UK ELLE and UK Harper's Bazaar have turned to the pop starlet.
Kylie Minogue covers the June issue of ELLE, photographed by David Slijper. Normally I prefer ELLE's subscriber's covers, but this month the real gem in the newstand cover. I adore the shot of Kylie falling out of the hammock. And the pink background is a nice surprise, as ELLE tends to stick with blue or grey covers.


And Harper's have turned to Cheryl Cole for June. I'm not sure if Cheryl is famous outside of the UK yet, so if you're unsure of who she is here's a brief history.
She appears on a talent show, becomes a member of a girl band, marries a footballer, footballer has numerous affairs, goes solo, Simon Cowell takes her under his wing, she becomes a 'national treasure' and is now the most talked about (and some would argue overexposed) woman in Britain.
There are rumours that Cheryl will become a judge on the American X Factor, so I'm sure those of you in the US will know a lot more about her soon. Even if you don't want too.


Anyway, Alexi Lubomirski photographed her for Harper's and she looks very pretty in froffy nude pieces and Bruberry S/S. I'm so glad she finally got rid of the WAG hair. Her shoulder-length cut looks much better.

Which cover do you prefer this month? Are you a Camp Kylie or Team Cheryl? For me it's Kylie all the way.

A Different Side of Jen

I must admit, I'm quite bored of Jennifer Aniston. This is not because I dislike her, it's more because she's so overexposed you never get a break from her. I'm sure Jen has been on more covers of women's magazines than any other celebrity in the world (her tally of Grazia covers alone could beat off any competitor).
So it's not that I think she is boring. It's more that I'm just bored of seeing her. But the May UK cover of Harper's Bazaar does bring something new to the table, so I'm happy to see her on their cover.



Yes, it's still just Jen (complete with her trademark hair) in a girl-next-door tank-top. But there is something about the lighting of this cover - it's like a summer evening on the beach - that's so beautiful. It's one of my favourite Aniston covers for sure.
Although, saying that, I'd much rather read the feature about Kate and Mario having a ball, than Jen's "it's time for my rebirth" interview...

Dressing Harper's Style

Last night Harper's Bazaar threw a party for Victoria Beckham, who was their December cover-star. I love the fact that Victoria attended the party with the same hairstyle Harper's gave her for the shoot. She's just missing the leather headband, but it's pretty much the same.



She decided against wearing a bra and pair of high-waisted briefs, in the style of her shoot, to the dinner though. Instead going for a black zip-detail dress from her S/S 2010 collection.


I actually like Victoria's designs. This freaks me out, because I'm so against celebrities becoming 'designers'. But whenever I see her in her own collection I always think she looks great. Oddly though, when other celebrities wear Victoria Beckham designs they never look as good as she does.
Is anyone else a fan of her collections?
